PRIVATE FAMILY- INTENSIVE THERAPY

This Post Institute service is a private family-intensive therapy approach where Dr. Post will come to the family home, or the family will travel to Oklahoma for the therapy sessions. This therapy is intended for families with children aged 2 - 18 years. It is strongly recommended that parents first attend a Post Institute Attachment Parenting Camp before scheduling the Private Family-Intensive Therapy sessions with Dr. Post.

Adoption and it's impact on children is greatly misunderstood by mainstream society. The truth is that adopted children at all levels have experienced some degree of trauma. The initial break from the biological mother is a traumatic event. In most instances, this disruption is never addressed sufficiently much less mended. As years pass and the adoptive family and child continue to struggle daily, the critical phases for brain access and change are being missed.

How do you know if you are missing out on such critical phases?

If you have explored numerous therapeutic options and your child has been placed on psychiatric medication (or numerous), and nothing still seems to make sense to you, then you know you are missing out on something.

Our belief is that every family has the innate ability to create their own healing dynamic. We work to empower families through education, insight, awareness, and understanding. This process allows families to go back to their lives, viewing everyday dynamics with a new lens.

What is the Post Institute's view of treatment?

The Post Institute believes that a child cannot be treated effectively outside of the family context. The parent system is the foundation of the family and must first be secured before a firm basis can be established for the child to continue to the growth process.

Private Family-Intensive Therapy

Families choosing this service with The Post Institute may opt for Dr. Post to come to them for In-Home therapy, or they may prefer to travel to Oklahoma City to work with Dr. Post.

With In-Home, Private Family-Intensive Therapy, Dr. Post will visit the family home for 3 Days of very intense family-oriented work. This enables the family to begin creating a new foundation for the healing process.

• This is a combined 6 month program where following the three-day intensive session, Dr. Post will begin to engage the family each week with rigorous telephone coaching sessions that enable them to continue following the prescribed preventative environment given at that end of the three day session.
  
  
• Dependent of the progress of the family, it is sometimes recommended that a follow-up visit occur after three months.
  
  
• During the six-month program, Dr. Post advocates via coaching for the family in any and all areas where they may struggle. As arranged and directed by the family, he can also be present through telephone conferencing for important meetings with professionals and parents. Such areas may include school meetings, IEP's, court appointments, employment difficulties, and many others.
